What to expect
We run jet skis on the high-tide window, when the lagoon fills in and you get a wide, flat playground between the beach and the outer reef. Your guide rides with you or alongside on a second ski, so you always know where the shallow patches and seaweed farms are.
No licence and no experience needed. You get a short safety briefing, a life jacket, and a few minutes in the shallows to get comfortable before you open it up. Riders can go solo or two-up, and kids can ride as passengers with a parent.
Included: life jacket, fuel, safety briefing and a guide on the water. Choose a 30-minute blast or a full hour that takes you further down the coast toward Jambiani.
Safety & requirements
- Minimum age 16 to drive; younger riders welcome as passengers with an adult.
- Basic swim ability required. Maximum combined weight 180 kg per ski.
- Bring: swimwear, reef-safe sunscreen, a strap for sunglasses. No alcohol before riding.

Good to know
- Do I need a licence or previous experience?
- No. A short briefing covers throttle, steering and the stop lanyard, then you ride within a guided zone in the lagoon.
- Can we ride at any time of day?
- Jet ski rides follow the tide. At low tide the sandbar is exposed, so we schedule around the high-tide window and confirm your slot the day before.
Kitesurfing in Paje, Zanzibar

What to expect
Paje is the kite capital of Zanzibar for a reason: an outer reef flattens the swell, the lagoon stays waist-deep over a long stretch, and the trade winds blow side-shore almost every afternoon. If you are learning, you can stand up, reset your kite and try again — which is why people progress here faster than almost anywhere else.
Two seasons: Kaskazi runs roughly December to February with lighter northerly wind and the warmest water — ideal for first lessons. Kusi runs roughly June to September with stronger, more consistent wind — better for riders who already have a board start and want hours on the water.
Lessons are taught one-to-one or two-to-one with radio helmets. Included: kite, bar, board, harness, impact vest, helmet and rescue support. Independent riders can rent full gear by the day once we've seen you ride.
Safety & requirements
- Comfortable swimmer, minimum age 12 (under 16 with a parent present).
- Rental requires a self-rescue and independent water start — we'll check on the first session.
- Bring: rash guard or long sleeves, reef shoes, sunscreen and water. Wind reports are checked every morning.

Good to know
- When is the best time to learn?
- Kaskazi (December–February) is friendliest for first-timers: lighter wind, warm water. Kusi (June–September) is stronger and better once you can ride upwind.
- What happens if there is no wind on my lesson day?
- We reschedule at no cost. Nothing is charged for a session that doesn't run, and we'll tell you the night before if the forecast looks flat.
Beach Horse Riding in Paje, Zanzibar

What to expect
Rides leave from the beach in Paje and follow the shoreline toward Jambiani, walking through shallow water at low tide and along the soft dry sand higher up. It is quiet down here — a few dhows, seaweed farmers working the flats, and very little else.
Complete beginners are welcome. Every rider is matched to a calm horse, gets a short handling briefing, and rides with a guide leading the group at walking pace. Confident riders can trot on the firm sand once the guide is happy.
The sunset ride is the one people remember: it starts about 90 minutes before dark so you're on the water's edge as the light drops. Included: guide, and photos taken by your guide on request.

- Suitable from age 8 with an adult. Maximum rider weight 95 kg for horse welfare.
- No riding experience needed; a guide leads the group at walking pace.
- Bring: long shorts or trousers, closed shoes if you have them, sunscreen and a hat.

- Not at all. Most guests are first-timers. You'll be on a calm horse at walking pace with a guide beside you the whole ride.
- What time does the sunset ride start?
- It shifts with the season and the tide, roughly between 16:30 and 17:30. We confirm your exact start time on WhatsApp the day before.
Transparent Kayak & Drone in Paje, Zanzibar

What to expect
Guests float on a transparent kayak across Paje's calm, shallow lagoon while a drone captures photos and video from above. The kayak can be styled with flower petals on request — popular for couples, honeymoons, proposals, and anniversary shoots.
No paddling experience or strong swimming ability is needed; a guide manages the kayak and the shoot. We schedule around calm lagoon conditions and daylight for the clearest drone shots.
Included: transparent kayak, life jacket, guide, drone photo and video set. Raw and edited content is sent on WhatsApp the same day.

- Can you add flower petals or props?
- Yes. Flower styling on the kayak is available on request — let us know when you book if it's for a proposal, honeymoon, anniversary or couple shoot.
- Do we get the raw drone footage afterward?
- You receive the full drone photo and video set on WhatsApp the same day. Raw clips are included; edited highlights are included with the 1-hour and sunset sessions.

Meet the owner
Meet Yussuf
Yussuf grew up in Paje and has been working on this stretch of lagoon for years — he knows its tides, its wind, and its sandbars better than anyone, and personally oversees every ride and lesson booked through Paje Watersports.

About / Location
We work one beach. We know it well.
Paje Watersports is run by a small local team based on the beach in Paje village. We started with kites, because the lagoon here is one of the best flat-water spots in the world — an outer reef kills the swell, the trade winds blow side-shore, and at low tide a huge sandbar surfaces in the middle of it all.
We added jet skis and horses because guests kept asking, and because both work best on the same beach at different points in the tide. Everything we run is scheduled around the water, not the clock.
We keep engines out of the seaweed farms, we don't anchor on coral, and we hire and train from the village. Paje is quieter than the north of the island — we'd like to keep it that way.
